How to log and sign a supervision session
Record a supervision session, sign it with intent, and collect the countersignature that seals a tamper-evident evidence package.
Last updated Sep 14, 2026
What you’ll need
- A supervisee assigned to you with a state rule
- A completed supervision meeting to record
This guide walks through the core loop that produces audit-ready proof: log a supervision session, sign it, and collect the countersignature that seals it. When every required signer has signed, AuditHalo generates an evidence package with a tamper-evident hash.
The order is fixed. The supervisor signs first, then the supervisee countersigns. This is enforced in the product, not just a convention.
Log the session
The supervisor records the session. You can log a session you held ad hoc, or record one you scheduled in advance.
- Open the supervisee's detail page at
/dashboard/roster/[superviseeId]. - Select Log session.
- Choose the supervision type: individual, triadic, or group.
- Enter the date and duration.
- For a group session, add the other attendees.
- Save the session.
The session appears in the session log marked as awaiting signature.

Tip: If you scheduled the session with a Teams or Google Meet link, you can generate an AI-assisted note from the transcript before signing. See AI-assisted session notes.
Sign as the supervisor
- Open the session to reach the sign page at
/sign/[sessionId]. - Review the details: date, duration, type, and your credentials.
- Select Sign session.
- Select the checkbox: I confirm that I intend to electronically sign this session record.
- Submit your signature.
AuditHalo records your signature with your name, role, timestamp, and IP address. The session now waits for the supervisee.

Warning: The supervisee cannot countersign until you have signed. Sign promptly so their part is not blocked.
Countersign as the supervisee
- Open the session from your notifications or the session log.
- Review the same session details.
- Select Sign session.
- Confirm intent with the checkbox.
- Submit your signature.
The evidence package seals automatically
When every required signer has signed, AuditHalo:
- Sets the signed timestamp.
- Builds a canonical record of the session and its signatures.
- Generates a SHA-256 hash of that record so any later change is detectable.
- Notifies both signers that the evidence package is sealed.
For a group session, every attendee must sign before the package seals.
