Closing your account

How account deletion works, the 30-day grace period, and what happens to your sessions and evidence when you delete.

Last updated Sep 14, 2026

This guide explains what happens when you delete your AuditHalo account: the grace period, the immediate sign-out, and how it interacts with your organization's records. Deletion is reversible for a window, then permanent, so read this before you start.

Delete your account

  1. Go to your account page at /dashboard/account.
  2. Open the delete-account section.
  3. Confirm with your password.

You are signed out immediately and your account enters a 30-day grace period.

The 30-day grace period

Deletion is a soft delete. For 30 days your account is deactivated but recoverable; after that, it is purged. During the grace period you cannot sign in, and your sessions are invalidated.

Warning: After the 30-day grace period, deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you are unsure, sign out of all devices instead and decide later. See Managing your password and email.

What happens to organization records

Deleting your personal account does not erase the organization's evidence. Sessions you signed remain sealed and valid, because an evidence package is a historical record that must hold up to an audit regardless of later account changes. Your name and signature on past sessions are preserved.

Billing

If you are a supervisor or HR admin with a subscription, manage or cancel billing separately through the billing portal before or after deleting. Deleting your account does not automatically end a subscription. See Managing your subscription.
